“Naiad”, designed by Clinton Crane, and built as “Lucie” by Nevis Yacht Yard at City Island, Bronx, New York City in 1929 for Briggs Cunningham. She was very successfully raced on Long Island Sounds and in England during the summer of 1930. St. Francis Yacht Club Commodore Cyril Tobin (1934) purchased “Naiad” in early 1931. He hoped to be the American representative in the 6 Metre Class at the 1932 Los Angles Olympic Games, but was not successful. Tobin sold “Naiad” in 1933 into Southern California where she remained active in the 6 Metre Class for many years.
