After a successful racing career over 75 years, Lucie was rebuilt in the exact manner of her original construction, including shellac between her double planked hull. This rebuild was completed in two stages. In 2005-06, Gregory Carroll employed the services of David PedrickYacht Design to direct the restoration and refit of Lucie – primarily deck improvements, a new rig, sail plan and rating parameters to Rule 2. Mr Pedrick and Jacob Vargish used lines obtained from both an electronic scan of Lucie and the original plans which are archived at MIT. In 2011, William Brooks completed the final stage of restoration in preparation for Lucie’s participation in the XIXth World Cup for the Six Metre class to be held in 2011 in Helsinki, Finland. All of the restoration work was done by Brion Rieff Boatworks in Brooklin, Maine. There are two other Crane 6 metre designs in existence, US 43 Sprig, and US 3 Clytie II.
