The morning greeted us with some blistering winds from the west and AP was hoisted before 10 am – everybody went into a waiting pattern. At that time we did not know, but this would continue thruout the whole day. Initially the forecast told us we could go sailing in the afternoon but when we got there it the wind had steadied at 18 knots with gusts well into the mid 20 knot range. Finally at 5pm the race committee cancelled all racing for the third day of this years 6 Metre World Championship.
But we all still had a good reason to stay around: LUCIE celebrated her birthday this afternoon! This young lady is now 83 years old and all participants of this World Championship helped to celebrate the occasion in style: Champagne, flowers, hors d’oeuvres and a big cake. A beautiful setting, LUCIE flagged over the tops and in Bristol condition. A nice way of Pam and Matt to say Thank You for the beautiful reception of all the boats and crews here in Germany.
