The 6 metre Worlds wrapped up yesterday in La Trinite Sur La Mer. The awards ceremony is tonight and we hope to return home tomorrow with all of the trophies we won in previous competitions (more on that following tonight’s festivities). As in past regattas, Lucie and her crew did better and better with each race — best of all in light air. In the last two races she passed competitors going downwind in the final few hundred yards, keeping Jens and I on the edges of our seats to the very finish!
In what has become an annual tradition for the entire community of racers, we celebrated Lucie’s birthday with refreshments on the dock immediately following a full day of sailing. Lucie added to the celebratory mood by coming in first in the day’s final race. We were joined by our wonderful local hosts, Christine and Bertrand de Broves, along with the mayor of La Trinite Sur La Mer, Jean-François Guezet and a band of local pipers who accompanied us in singing Happy Birthday. — Pam
